Iran holds international petrochemical conference

TEHRAN, June 7 (MNA) – Iran holds 11th International Petrochemical conference today (Saturday); first vice-president attends.

The two-day conference where ministers of oil, industry, trade and mine attend, addresses the Second Development Program of Iran's petrochemical industry and also development of related industries with the aim of attaining 100 million tons of products.

The conference brings together experts, analysts, and high-ranking company directors of Iran and world petrochemical complexes.

The company also focuses upon innovations in petrochemical industry in terms of technical knowledge, environment, safety, new petrochemical products applications and international trade.

Iran is the second largest producer of petrochemical products in the Middle East, with 25 per cent of the total products. The country has waged attempts to increase its share of the domestic as well as international markets through development plans entering operation in the current year.

With removal of sanctions on Iran's petrochemical sector and positive international mentality achieved by President Rouhani's moderate foreign policy, the country has in the agenda diversification of its products and finding new export destinations as two important strategy, with increasing international demands for Iran's petrochemical products.

Iran currently produces 60 million tons of petrochemical products and Iran has necessary markets to its products either domestic or international.

The target rise in the end of 5th Development Plan is 100 million tons capacity. Iran produced more than 40 million tons of petrochemical products last year.
